Proxies for web scraping. One port, pay per success.

Point your scraper at proxy.scrapingant.com and switch between datacenter and residential exits, or turn on Headless Chrome, with a username parameter. You pay credits only for successful requests: 1 for a plain datacenter request, 25 for residential.

Proxy options

Three ways to get proxies for web scraping

All three work with any HTTP client and the same account. Pick the proxy port if you want to pay per successful request and start free. Pick a bandwidth plan if you already know your traffic in GB.

Proxy port

A standard proxy. API parameters in the username.

The proxy port is a light front end for the Web Scraping API: same parameters, same credit costs. Your scraper keeps its HTTP client and parser; you only change the proxy setting. Add parameters to the username, joined with &, to pick the exit type, the country or a headless browser.

  • Host proxy.scrapingant.com, port 8080 for HTTP and 443 for HTTPS
  • Username scrapingant plus parameters, password = your API key
  • Set browser=false for plain requests: the browser is on by default
  • forward_headers=true passes your own headers to the target

Cost per 1,000 requests

From $0.08 per 1,000 plain requests

Credits per request come from the published credit table and are the same through the port and the API endpoint. Dollar figures divide each plan's price by its credits; only successful requests are charged.

Rounded to the cent. The 10,000 free monthly credits cover 10,000 plain datacenter requests or 400 plain residential requests. Business Pro (8M credits, $599) and custom plans lower the per-request price further.

Residential

Residential proxies for web scraping by the GB.

When you already run a browser or a crawler at volume, a bandwidth plan can cost less than per-request credits. Direct residential proxies take country, US state and city targeting in the username, keep one exit IP for up to 10 minutes with a session ID, and have no concurrency limit.

  • residential.scrapingant.com, port 8080 or 443
  • customer-USER-country-us-sessionid-flow1 for a US sticky session
  • From $30 for 5 GB; $3/GB on the 1,000 GB plan

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Choosing between per-request credits and bandwidth plans? Ask our team.

What is a web scraping proxy?

A web scraping proxy sits between your scraper and the target site, so requests leave from the proxy's IP addresses instead of yours. Spreading requests over many exit IPs, or choosing an IP in a specific country, helps a scraper keep working when a site limits or blocks traffic from one address. ScrapingAnt offers three kinds: a proxy port in front of the Web Scraping API, residential proxies and datacenter proxies.

Which proxies are best for web scraping?

Start with datacenter exits: they are the cheapest and fast enough for most public pages. Switch to residential exits for targets that block datacenter ranges or show different content by region. Use a headless browser only for pages that need JavaScript. The proxy port lets you change all three per request with username parameters, so you can test a target before choosing a bandwidth plan.

How do I use ScrapingAnt as a proxy in my scraper?

Point your HTTP client at proxy.scrapingant.com:8080 (HTTP) or :443 (HTTPS). The username is scrapingant and the password is your API key. Add API parameters to the username, joined with &: for example scrapingant&browser=false&proxy_type=residential. Disable SSL certificate verification in your client. See the proxy mode documentation.

Why do I have to turn off SSL verification?

The proxy port passes your request to the Web Scraping API, which fetches the page and returns it. To route HTTPS requests that way, the documentation requires your client not to verify SSL certificates: -k in curl, verify=False in Python requests, rejectUnauthorized: false in Node.

How much does a web scraping proxy cost?

Through the proxy port you pay API credits per successful request: 1 credit for a plain request on a datacenter exit, 25 on a residential exit, 10 or 125 with Headless Chrome. Every account gets 10,000 free credits a month, and paid plans start at $19 for 100,000 credits. See the cost per 1,000 requests. Direct residential proxies cost $30 for 5 GB up to $3/GB, and datacenter proxies $0.60 to $0.44 per GB.

Is there a free proxy for web scraping?

The 10,000 free credits every month work through the proxy port, which covers up to 10,000 plain datacenter requests. No credit card is required. The free plan allows one concurrent request; paid plans have no concurrency limit. ScrapingAnt no longer publishes a free public proxy list.

Do failed requests cost credits?

No. Only successful responses are charged, and error responses cost no credits. A page the target site itself answers with an error, such as a 404, still counts as a successful API response. Each response carries an Ant-credits-cost header with the credits it used.

Will the proxy get my scraper past CAPTCHAs?

ScrapingAnt aims to avoid triggering risk-based CAPTCHAs by making its browser fingerprint and behavior resemble a human visitor, so the challenge is not shown in the first place. That does not guarantee every request avoids a CAPTCHA, and it does not solve mandatory CAPTCHAs on registration, login or similar forms.

Does it work with Scrapy, Puppeteer or Playwright?

The proxy port works with any HTTP client that supports proxy configuration, including Scrapy and Python requests. For browser automation tools, you can either set the port as the browser's proxy or let ScrapingAnt run the browser for you with browser=true.
